Anne Steiner and David Laribee
Anne Steiner
Anne Steiner is Strategic Advisor for Nerd/Noir, a consulting firm specializing in transforming large-scale, product engineering organizations. In this role, Steiner focuses on business development, strategic consulting, and fostering a community of truth-tellers in the product development space.
Steiner brings more than 25 years experience in tech, working as a software engineer, product manager, consultant, and executive. During her time at Cprime and DevJam, she built the organization’s product agility capability, acted as the firm’s principal consultant in that area, and held several executive positions, including serving as CEO. Over the span of eight years, she helped more than 100 clients transform from traditional, waterfall organizations to product-led companies that emphasize the continuous delivery of customer value.
Prior to joining Cprime, Steiner worked in the software industry as both an engineer and product manager. Her foundation as a maker at companies like VMware, SAS, PTC, and Ivanti uniquely positions her to coach, lead, and help people across the product development lifecycle to collaborate and excel. Steiner also served in the US Marine Corps in the logistics field.
Steiner is passionate about helping others, building relationships, and promoting community. She actively promotes communities of practitioners in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and frequently speaks at national and regional events. Steiner received her B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and her M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.
Her journey is a testament to the power of experience-based insights and the impact of authentic leadership in technology. Away from work, Steiner enjoys the outdoors, watching sports (Go Pack Go), and hanging out with her “sister” - a four-year old golden retriever.
David Laribee
David Laribee is a coach, developer, teacher, international speaker, and co-founder of Nerd/Noir. Over the last 25 years, he’s helped transform and develop digital product development teams and organizations across a wide variety of industries, including banking, retail, technology, insurance, defense, and higher education.
David has been at the forefront of several movements in software development. He helped create the dojo approach to immersive learning, popularize lean and kanban methods, and introduce product thinking to the agile landscape. As an engineering leader, David was an early adopter of eXtreme Programming and Domain Driven Design. David is a former Microsoft MVP in both Solutions Architecture and C# and co-founder of the ALT.NET movement, with dozens of user groups across the globe dedicated to open source and modern engineering practices.
Before founding Nerd/Noir, David served as Head of Dojos for Cprime and coached the product development teams at VersionOne, a market leader in agile management tooling. These days you can find him working across several active dojos, collaborating with leaders on strategy, and helping to build capable coaching teams at Fortune 500 and scale-up firms.
David started work life at age five on a farm in Upstate NY — an upbringing that accounts for his lead-from-the-front approach, appreciation for small/cross-disciplinary teams, and disdain for fake maple syrup.
