Lately I've been spending time thinking about freemium business models and how best to structure them to maximize conversions. I believe we are still early in our understanding of these models and to date most of the available analysis has been limited to anecdotal evidence, one-off case studies, tips & tricks, and a few early overviews of what's been tried.
It often happens that you start something new and somebody would discourage you by laughing at you, making you feel whatever you are doing is b** sh*t. They will do this without even knowing what exactly you are doing or plan to do. In fact, they might not have even a hair line thick idea of what you are talking about. I also my share of encounters with such people.
