Seeing the big-picture vision and possessing versatility enables product managers to impact, even when the spotlight falls on others instead. Some view Product as an equal peer to Marketing, Sales, and Engineering, while others tuck it away under a VP of Product Marketing or a CTO.
But as data-driven decision making takes on increased significance, we’ve seen “ product ops ” emerge to fill in the gap between the leadership and vision aspects of the product management and the facts and figures that inform team members. Despite the size and global complexity of the company, they developed a vision and roadmap to success with four KPI: revenue growth, lead pass to Sales, retention, and merchant satisfaction NPS.
